Inappropriate Use Policy

To ensure the safety of our clients, preserve the quality of our fleet, and maintain compliance with applicable laws, RICE MOTORS enforces the following Inappropriate Use Policy. Violations of this policy will result in immediate termination of the rental agreement, forfeiture of any security deposit, potential legal action, and permanent disqualification from future rentals.

Prohibited Uses of Our Vehicles

The following actions are strictly prohibited when operating any RICE MOTORS vehicle:

1. Driving Outside the State of Florida

Vehicles must remain within Florida unless prior written approval is obtained.

2. Reckless or Dangerous Driving

Includes racing, drifting, burnouts, aggressive acceleration or braking, exceeding 100 mph, or any behavior that endangers passengers, the vehicle, or others on the road.

3. Driving Under the Influence

Operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, drugs (legal or illegal), or any substance that impairs ability is strictly prohibited.

4. Participation in Illegal or High-Risk Activities

This includes transporting illegal substances or contraband, using the vehicle during civil unrest or protests, evading law enforcement, or participating in public events such as parades or political rallies without written consent.

5. Subleasing or Commercial Use

The vehicle may not be used for rideshare, food delivery, or any for-hire services such as Uber, Lyft, Turo, or DoorDash.

6. Unauthorized Drivers or Passengers

Only approved drivers may operate the vehicle. Transporting passengers for profit or permitting unapproved individuals to drive is prohibited.

7. Off-Road, Flood, or Improper Terrain Use

Driving on unpaved roads, through standing water, on beaches, or any terrain not suited for the vehicle is not allowed.

8. Track, Performance, or Competitive Use

Using the vehicle for racing, drag strips, timed trials, or other competitive driving environments is strictly forbidden.

9. Tampering with Vehicle Systems

Do not disable or tamper with GPS, odometers, interior/exterior cameras, or vehicle electronics. Tampering with safety or monitoring systems is considered fraud.

10. Mechanical Abuse or Ignoring Warning Alerts

Redlining the engine, ignoring dashboard alerts, or continuing to drive while critical warnings are active may result in renter liability for resulting damage.

11. Improper Fueling or Failure to Provide Receipts

Only manufacturer-approved fuel must be used. Renters are responsible for keeping and submitting fuel receipts.

12. Transporting Hazardous or Improper Materials

Includes flammable liquids, explosives, large equipment, heavy construction supplies, or materials that could damage the interior.

13. Improper Child or Pet Transport

Pets are not allowed unless explicitly approved. Approved pets must be transported with proper covers. Legal child safety seating is required.

14. Neglect of Vehicle Condition or Cleanliness

Renters must return the vehicle in clean condition. Excessive dirt, trash, pet hair, or odor may result in cleaning fees from $50 to $1,000.

15. Leaving the Vehicle Unsecured or Unattended While Running

Always lock the car and turn off the engine when leaving it unattended.

16. Abandonment or Improper Return Location

Vehicles must be returned to the agreed drop-off point. Abandoning the car or returning it without approval may result in recovery charges.

17. False Claims or Failure to Report Damage

Renters must report any damage or theft immediately. Making false claims about existing damage or vehicle performance is a violation.

18. Unapproved Modifications or Accessories

Do not install, remove, or alter any part of the vehicle including decals, tints, audio systems, or components.

19. Failure to Cooperate with Incident Investigations

Renters must comply with any investigation related to accidents, damage, or policy violations. Lack of response may result in penalties.

20. Violation of Local, State, or Federal Law

Use of the vehicle in any way that violates city ordinances, state law, or federal regulations is a breach of the agreement.

21. Failure to Provide Required Documentation

Renter must provide valid ID, driver’s license, proof of insurance (if applicable), and any other requested documents prior to taking possession of the vehicle. Providing false or expired information is strictly prohibited.

22. Use in Unsafe Conditions

Vehicles may not be driven during hurricanes, tornado warnings, road closures, or while under any vehicle-related recalls or notices pending resolution.

23. Failure to Respect Maintenance Notifications

If RICE MOTORS notifies the renter to return the vehicle due to maintenance, service needs, recalls, or other safety-related reasons, the renter must comply immediately.

24. Rental for Misrepresentation

Renting a vehicle under false pretenses—including using false names, payment info, or business purposes masked as personal use—is prohibited.

Consequences of Violations

If any of the above actions are observed or discovered:

  • Immediate rental termination
  • No refund for remaining rental period
  • Loss of security deposit
  • Full liability for damages and recovery costs
  • Permanent ban from future rentals
  • Potential legal action and claim pursuit
